Derrick DunneChief Executive OfficerDerrick has extensive experience of the financial services sector and is responsible for all aspects of Beaufort Investment. Most recently he was Chief Executive of Sanlam FOUR which he founded in 2006. That business had teams managing UK, European, US and Global equity as well as a multi-asset strategy team and a managed portfolio service team with over 500 portfolios. Derrick began his career at Russell Investments in 1990 working in manager research and performance measurement roles, moving to Stamford Associates in 1994 in a global manager research role and then Mercer (again in international fund research role) in 1998. He subsequently went on to build the multi-manager business, Attica MM, from 2000 which was acquired by American Express, before founding FOUR Capital Partners which was later acquired by Sanlam. Derrick possesses an in-depth understanding of the asset management industry having worked with operational and governance structures of both large and small companies, successfully navigating them through financial crises and substantial regulatory changes. He was nominated a finalist for CEO of the Year in leading industry awards in 2015 and 2016 (Financial News & Professional Pensions Investment Awards). Derrick holds the Investment Management Certificate Shane BalkhamChief Investment OfficerShane joined The Beaufort Group at its inception in 2012 and is now Chief Investment Officer for Beaufort Investment. He is responsible for communicating our investment strategy to all stakeholders, as well as overall responsibility for the investment team. Having joined Friends Provident in 1990, Shane held various roles within the industry before focusing purely on investments. In 2004, Shane and Andrew Bennett set up Equip Solutions, which was the genesis of Beaufort Investment. He has been managing our flagship active models since then (April 2012 became part of the Beaufort Group). Shane is a Chartered Fellow of the Chartered Institute for Securities and Investment, a member of the CFA UK Society and holds the Investment Management Certificate. Fiona VoiceHead of HRFiona is responsible for the overall provision of HR services, from strategic thinking, planning and change management, through to policy development and talent programmes. The primary focus of her efforts is in shaping the firm’s recruitment effort, the development of its corporate culture as well as the introduction of new technology platforms to improve the automation of admin-related HR services. Her HR career has spanned over 30 years. During this time, she has developed specialist skills in HR process, benefits design and management, employee relations, performance management and compensation. Cormac NevinFund ManagerCormac began his career in Financial Services in 2012 with an Internship in Partners Capital. Prior to this he read Economics and Investment Analysis at Trinity College Dublin. He then spent a number of years working as an Analyst for SECOR Asset Management, an outsourced investment office for pension funds. At SECOR, Cormac gained experience in qualitative manager research and developed a quantitative skillset surrounding return decomposition and the creation of models. Before joining Beaufort Investment, he worked in Fintech for over a year. Cormac holds the Investment Management Certificate, level I of the CAIA and is studying for level II. Richard WarneFund ManagerRichard manages our Model Portfolios and Funds with specific responsibilities for UK Equities, Global Equities, Property and Real Assets. Previously, Richard was Head of Discretionary Portfolio Management for London and the Channel Islands at Credit Suisse, where he worked for over 19 years. He was responsible for the flagship third party mandates, which had a 20 years’ track record and his role was both investment and client focused. Prior to Credit Suisse, Richard spent over 3 years at Citibank Global Asset Management. He is a Chartered Fellow of the Chartered Institute for Securities and Investments and holds both the Private Client Investment Advice and Management (PCIAM) Certificate and the Investment Management Certificate (IMC). Richard has been listed in the Citywire Top 100 Wealth Managers on multiple occasions. Millan ChauhanTrainee Investment AnalystMillan joined Beaufort Investment in October 2019 having completed his master’s degree in Investment Analysis at Aston University. His main responsibilities are the day-to-day monitoring of the Multi-Asset Blend Funds, oversight on the US Equity asset class and in communicating the investment strategy to clients. Millan is an Affiliate of the Chartered Institute for Securities and Investment (CISI), a member of the CFA UK Society and successfully holds the Investment Management Certificate. Ryan KellInvestment Administration ManagerRyan joined the business in 2013 and started as an administrative assistant. At the beginning of 2020 he broadened his remit and is now the manager of the Investment Administration department. He is now responsible for the implementation of all model portfolio changes and updates across numerous platforms. Ryan’s core focus is to ensure the Investment Administration team develops robust and efficient processes to fit in with the ideology of Beaufort Investment. Over the past couple of years Ryan has been expanding his knowledge and building his skillset. He has sat key exams and successfully acquired qualifications including: Level 3 IOC+ and level 4 Managing Operational Risk and is now branching out towards the IMC qualification. Ryan is also an Associate member of the Chartered Institute for Securities & Investments. Jess WoolerHead of MarketingJess is responsible for the Marketing team working for Beaufort Investment. She is responsible for the website, brand, PR, advertising, literature and all the different ranges of ways in which we communicate to our clients. Jess started working in Marketing in 2005 and has worked in a range of industries throughout her career. She moved into the Financial Services sector in 2018. Conor CassidyInvestment Administration SpecialistConor joined the firm in October 2017 and works as a Specialist in the Investment Administration team. He has a wide range of responsibilities including the handling of the monthly rebalances and onboarding new funds into both the Model Portfolios and Multi-Asset Blend Funds. Before joining, Conor worked at Marathon School Supplies where he was tasked with managing and updating the stock, as well as aiding in the creation of logos before going to print. Stephen PoultonHead of Risk & ComplianceSteven joined Beaufort Group in 2012 and manages the compliance function and oversees the business risk mitigation procedures across the Group’s companies. As a highly qualified specialist, Steven seeks to ensure that all clients are fairly treated and that our risk management and governance procedures are adhered to. Steven also looks after relationships with key stakeholders such as the regulator, PI insurers, regulatory lawyers, and professional bodies. He is a Chartered Member of CISI and holds the Level 6 Diploma in Investment Compliance. Away from the office, he is a keen sports fan and participates in football, triathlon, and dog agility. Stephen WatsonNon-Executive DirectorStephen’s entire 40-year career has been spent in the investment industry. After four years at Samuel Montagu & Co Ltd, he spent seven years at Capel-Cure Myers. This was followed by roles at James Capel Fund Managers, now HSBC Asset Management and 10-years at Gartmore in several roles including Head of the Global Equity Team. Stephen also worked at Liontrust Asset Management as Institutional Marketing Director. He is a member of the IAAC and remains fascinated with investment markets and reads extensively. Outside of his life at Beaufort Investment, Stephen is a keen sportsman, playing tennis, hockey and cycling.
